It is hard to describe a typical day at Great Gidding Primary School, as one day is rarely like the next!
Therefore, the best way to find out what life is like here is to come and see for yourself!

Open days…
We do have occasional Open Days for prospective parents, but they won’t always fit in with every parent’s busy schedule. Therefore, we try to make every day an open day, just contact us and we will endeavour to arrange a visit that suits you.

Education
Providing high quality education is at the core of the daily life of the school. This is done in a variety of exciting ways, including teaching in the outdoor classroom, through field trips, school productions, music festivals or visiting exciting places.

Daily Life
A few facts worth knowing

Start of the day
The school gate is open from 8.35am each day and school starts promptly at 8.45am. Structured learning activities start at 8.45am including individual work with adults, group activities and independent learning.  The day ends at 3.00pm, although a number of children stay on later to attend After School Club or one of the many Extracurricular Clubs.

Water bottles
We know that hydrated children make better learners so all children bring in their own water bottle to school  which they can access throughout the day.

Snack time
We are designated as a Health Promoting School and continue to develop children’s awareness of the need to lead a healthy lifestyle. Children in Foundation and Key Stage 1 are provided with a piece of fruit daily through the Government’s Fresh Fruit Vegetable scheme. Key Stage 2 pupils may bring a healthy snack (i.e. piece of fruit, breadsticks etc.).

Lunch
High quality, nutritious cooked lunches, provided by Cambridgeshire Catering Services are served daily or children may prefer to bring a packed lunch.. All children eat together at lunchtime in the care of our lunchtime supervisors. During summer weeks the dining tables are taken outside and used alongside the picnic tables.
